Let It Snow!

The kids are on Spring Break today. Can't you tell by the pictures I took just a little bit ago? Ignore the date on the pic, I don't know how to change the date!

Bear playing snowball baseball with the neighbor!
Miss Beautiful not impressed with the snow, because she was cold! Look how those blue eyes stand out!
It was my 10 year anniversary yesterday, and Spring Break is ending. I PROMISE, back to the regularly scheduled blogging as soon as life gets back to normal!

Daddy Daughter Ball

Ignore the date on the bottom of the pic, I'm not sure how to fix it! Anyway, last night was the annual Daddy Daughter Ball and The Hubs and Miss Beautiful were in attendance.

The Hubs bought our little Princess a corsage. They went out to eat first, then to the high school gym for the big dance, where they danced the night away. A good time was had by all!

And this pic, is from my weekend of fun. Friday night was GNO and we had an absolute blast! Last night, after the Ball, The Hubs took me and my friends out to see our favorite band play at a local club.

Back to books tomorrow!

Hands Are Frozen...

...can't type! This cold weather is nuts. It's awful. It's so cold I can barely move my fingers to type. OK, so it's not really that cold in my house, but it's cold outside and that makes me want to do nothing more than lounge in the chair, book in one hand, coffee mug in the other (totally diggin' the Hazelnut variety right now). I feel a contest coming on. One to deal with books and coffee. Just cuz, ya know, I can!

Oh, and American Idol. I can't blog when American Idol is on. Tomorrow. More on books tomorrow. I'm going to go cuddle into my fleece sheets (yep, fleece, those babies are SO nice) and several heavy blankets, and dream of warm temps.

When Authors Completely Waste Your Time

This post, believe it or not, is not a rant about bad writing. No, this post is about what can happen when you visit one of your favorite author's blog and end up playing away the rest of the afternoon, instead of you know, actually doing something constructive like writing or reading.

Today I got off work a little early because Bear was sick. I ended up blog surfing for a bit, and lo and behold I see this post on Jenny Crusie's Argh Ink blog. Well, what can I say, I had to play too. The next thing I knew, The Hubs was home and it was time to cook dinner (past time actually)! That iVillage Makeover , it is addictive.

First, you start off with a picture or yourself sans make-up and with your hair all slicked/pulled back. Here's mine:
Then the fun begins. You get to choose hairstyles from a selection of celebrity styles or from regular people styles and several shades of color. You also get to do your make-up (lips and eyes), can choose contacts, eyeglasses, sunglasses, and yes, even hats. The following are my three of the day:
and finally, me as a blonde, because everyone always said if I had blonde hair I'd look just like my younger sister (everyone was right):

And then, once we had our family swim, Miss Beautiful wanted in on the action too, here's my darling little diva:
It's amazing what difference hair cut and color make. That picture looks nothing like my beautiful little girl!

If you visit the site, have fun, but don't say I didn't warn ya about it being addicting. More reviewing tomorrow. I'm off to go get a few scenes ready for my crit partner.

Stealing From Marg

blessedheart, I have yet to hear from you about your win of the signed copy of FROM DEAD TO WORSE by Charlaine Harris. If I do not hear from you by Tuesday at 3 p.m. I will announce the next winner (Miss Beautiful has already drawn a name). Please contact me at novelreads at gmail dot com (ya know, without the spaces and with the symbols) with your snail mail address so that I may get the book sent to you ASAP! Thanks.

Also, thank you to all of you that commented on the last post! It feels nice to know that I'm not the only one who reads ahead and chooses books that way!

Weekends are usually my time to catch up on the web surfing I miss out on during the week. However, we've bought a pool, and now my weekends are spent outside hanging with family and friends, so I surf at night and then am too tired to really blog. Today, though, I have a burn. In short, my body and face are darker than dark, well, except for my shoulders, that burned, peeled, then immediately burned again. So, I'm inside today, healing what is probably a third degree burn. No lie. It hurts. But I get a chance to catch up for the week without going without lots of sleep tonight.

One of my favorite blogs to catch up on is Reading Adventures written by Marg. The posts are always so well written that it's easy to spend time over there. Today, as I went and did my surfing, I noticed two things I could steal...erm....borrow? So, I'm gonna do just that....

123 Meme

1. Pick up the nearest book.
2. Open to page 123.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the next three sentences.
5. Tag five people, and acknowledge who tagged you.

OK, the nearest book is an ARC of LuAnn McLane's soon to be released A LITTLE LESS TALK AND A LOT MORE ACTION (look very soon for a post on this one - I've read it over 10 times!). So, you can't check me until July1, when it is officially released. And even then, it may differ, since technically, ARCs are uncorrected proofs. And as a side note, it just so happens that page 123 is a page I have marked for quoting!

A LITTLE LESS TALK AND A LOT MORE ACTION by LuAnn McLane

It also boggles my mind how really ugly clothing sells out so quickly but I suppose that at three o'clock in the morning even turquoise tunics look appealing to bleary eyes. Plus they have models who would make a potato sack look sexy. I wonder how many people get UPS packages with turquoise tunics, scratch their heads, and mutter, "What the hell was I thinkin'?"

Now to tag -

1. Wendy
2. Rachael
3. Ter
4 & 5 - YOU!

And the second thing I stole...Ummmm, I mean BORROWED!

The concept:

a. Type your answer to each of the questions below into Flickr Search.
b. Using only the first page, pick an image.
c. Copy and paste each of the URLs for the images into fd's mosaic maker.

The Questions:

1. What is your first name?
2. What is your favorite food?
3. What high school did you go to?
4. What is your favorite color?
5. Who is your celebrity crush?
6. Favorite drink?
7. Dream vacation?
8. Favorite dessert?
9. What you want to be when you grow up?
10. What do you love most in life?
11. One Word to describe you.
12. Your flickr name

Enjoy! Novel Reads talk tomorrow!

Filler Post

Sometimes when I'm not reading, The Hubs and I actually go out. Here are some pics from our last outing a couple of weeks ago. We had a blast. I would post on one of the many books I still need to discuss, but I'm too tired. We bought and put up a pool today and had a BBQ for Miss Beautiful's Birthday. So, I thought I'd just share some of our fun~ Take Care
