Let's Celebrate!

It's official. I just took the last drag on the very last cigarette in my pack and I don't plan on buying anymore! "Yay Me!" Now, I have no illusions, this quitting thing is not going to be easy. However, it is time. The Hubs and I discussed quitting last night and had decided that we would stop Sept 1. You know, start the new month off with a new non-habit, but today when it was time to run to the store to get smokes for a new day, I decided that I was just going to quit now. I had four smokes left. That was six hours ago. I swear, it's been a long time since I had four smokes last that long. I am officially quitting. Wish me luck. I wanna celebrate!

And I don't just want to celebrate because The Hubs and I are kicking a nasty habit, NO! I also want to celebrate because one of my favorite authors is getting ready to release the third book in a wonderful series. So how are we gonna celebrate? With a contest of course!

Marta Acosta, author of the Casa Dracula series will have a new book hitting the shelves in September, and she'll be joining me this next week as I talk about her books. She'll also be giving away a signed copy of her latest book to one lucky winner! "Yay, You!"

All you have to do to be entered is visit one of Marta's blogs, her personal one or Vampire Wire, check 'em out and then come here and help me prepare my interview questions (as much as I like doing interviews we all know I'm not very good at it). Just leave a question for Marta in the comments of this post and I'll be sure to include them in the interview. One lucky questioner will be chosen at random for the free book. That's it.

Take Care

My mom smokes less now that she started smoking only outside (not in the house and not in the car) but I doubt she'll ever stop completely despite attempts of doing so. I guess growing up around it kind of messed with me because I usually have to leave the room when someone starts smoking now (hubby and I are non-smokers although we both tried it when we were in high school- yuck!). So congrats and I hope you can stay clean. Just keep your hands busy!

I entered the contest earlier.
Questions: Did any pictures, places, or things inspire or influence you during the course of your books?
How do your vampires differ from other paranormal romances being released over the past several years (do they drink blood, avoid sunlight, sleep with native earth, can't stand garlic, etc.)?
What made you decide on vampires instead of, say werewolves or some other supernatural creature?
Where you influenced by any authors?

Hi, Charity, thanks for mentioning my books!

Best of luck quitting smoking. You can do it and your kids will be so happy when you do. It's not just about the present, but the future. I speak as the daughter of someone who is suffering from the ill health effects of smoking for much of his life.

Good luck with quitting smoking and Congratulations for making the decision!
As for a question: When you started writing your books, did you plan them to be spaced out like they are from the first, or has the idea grown from there? AND when this project has finished, what comes next? *g*

Congrats on quitting! Are you going cold turkey or are you using a patch, gum or whatever?

Hope you're doing ok with the no-smoking. I'd like to know if Marta did the video trailers for the Casa Dracula books herself. They really rock!

MARTA HERE:

Hi, Arkiern, I'm glad you like the trailers! Yes, I did them myself and it was a learning process. I had no idea how to put them together, so I made a lot of errors and figured things out as I went along. If I did them again, I'd know a lot more.

One of these days, I'll get proper media programs so I can do my own ads and make better trailers.
